PKRA Germany Is Over:

I had ten great days at this years worldcup at my homespot. After I managed to win in the trials, I had to go against brazilian rider Reno Romeu in the single elimination which I lost. A few days later the double elimination started. There I had a much stronger competitor and I wasn’t able to beat Tom Hebert. My goal was to get threw this big trials, everything else would have been a bonus to me. So I’m happy about my result and the 25th place in freestyle at the worldcup. Also I met cool people at the event and had fun with my sponsors.

On saturday I took the Kite Wave Board of my Sponsor Brunotti to do a downwinder in the waves. We had bad luck with the wind because it dropped in the middle of the trip and we had to wait for a while to continue. I used the 5’5″ Board and it has been awesome. As I got back to the event I ordered one. You’ll see me on a waveboard in the future when the conditions are suitable for that. Maybe I will do a trip to denmark in fall to get some cleaner waves than at home.

The next three weeks I will be full on with training freestyle every windy day for the next and last tourstop of the german tour. After that I’m waiting for some strong winds for the stormriders cup I’m registered to and I will keep on filming and editing for my next video. Now have a look on some pics of the downwinder which I took with the Pentax cam I borrowed at the event.

PKRA Germany: Accomplished the Trials

Yesterday was the Check-In in St. Peter-Ording for one of the biggest events in kiteboarding. The Tourstop of the PKRA Worldtour is back in Germany. I signed in for Freestyle. Because of around 60 competitors in the men freestyle discipline there was a long time for trials. 34 riders were competing against each other to get one of the last 16 free places for the main event.

In the first round I was 2nd out of 4, but only the 1st one went to the main event. In the second round, the last chance to get to the main event, I was 1st out of 3. Super happy that I reached that at a worldcup. Let’s see what’s gonna happen the next days.

I Like My 9

I can’t complain about the last days. On saturday I had my last exam before the long break for summer and today I got the result that I passed all of them. Happy about that I had some good sessions now. Yesterday the wind was too light, so we went to the cable. I like to train new grabs off the kicker. Today the wind picked up so much, that I was totally powered on my 9. Unluckily I was so tired of wakeboarding, that I did less unhooked stuff and instead I did some big airs, kiteloops and much other fun stuff. My girlfriend caught all that nonsense on tape for the next video and of corse that pic above.

Finally The Summer Is Here

Last weekend it was super hot here in northern Germany. The temperatures climbed straight over 30°C and a nice and warm wind was blowing from the south-east. So I decided to get up really early in the morning to study and at noon, when the thermal winds kicked in, I was on my way to my favorite spot in denmark, where the water is flat like in your bathtub. It was amazing to go riding only in boardshorts. Later on I used a lycra too, because I didn’t wanna get a sunburn. On saturday it started with a well powered session on the 11m and ended nice on the 9m. That conditions motivated me a lot, I landed a new move and tried to get another one. Denise took some pictures that day, which I wanna show you right now!

Had A Nice Windy Weekend

At university the semester is going to end soon, so there isn’t much time until the exams. But the good thing on studying is that you can learn everywhere. So I went to my homespot in St. Peter-Ording on friday.  That day it was super windy and I used my 7m full on. The forecast didn’t look like that, so I left my brand new 5.5m at home. This would have been the day to give it a go. On saturday I used my 9m first, but then decided to take the 7m again. I really like the small kite because training new tricks is easier for me with that one. For today the forecast looked like light powered on 11m, but as I arrived at the beach I took my 9m again and it was fine for two hours. My girlfriend captured some tricks for my planed video which I’m going to release in the end of august.

Flexifoil Teammeeting In Quiberon

Last days I was in Quiberon. That’s a small island in the west of France. There was a teammeeting of my kitesponsor Flexifoil. It was a long journey to get there. My girlfriend and me changed driving the car. After 18 hours we arrived at the camping side. The place was great. We had water nearly all around our camping side at high tide.

Unluckily the weather wasn’t fine every day, but when the sun was out it was warm and the water had a nice color. Also the wind wasn’t our friend that days but in the end I can score 3 sessions. One of that was pretty good. The wind started while we were beginning the BBQ. I went on the water on my 11m Hadlow Pro. I was underpowered, but that was okay because it felt so good to kite with a short wetsuit in perfect flat water and sunny weather.

It was a cool but short trip which I enjoyed very much. I met a part of the Flexifoil Team and discovered some new spots.
